Fundamentals Day Camps
As the world continues to navigate the uncertainties around the COVID-19 pandemic, MidAmerica Nazarene University administration has made the difficult decision to keep university facilities closed through June. The health and safety of your family, our staff, and community are of the highest importance.
For this reason Camps Session #1, June 22-25 is canceled. Our plan is that the July camp will proceed as scheduled, but that will be determined at a later date. Since many of you have already registered for June camp and this decision has just been made by the administration we can 1.) refund you or 2.) move your registration to July 13th-16th and see what the University’s plan is moving forward closer to that date.
If you decide to be refunded, those that have prepaid for camp sessions, will receive a full refund. Because of how our website fee system is set-up, all refunds will be distributed at the conclusion of our summer camp schedule on Friday, July 17th. If you have not received your refund by July 27, please feel free to contact our office at 913-971-3758 or firstname.lastname@example.org
Please continue to follow our social media channels and this page for future information on our camps. I hope you and your families are doing well.
The Fundamentals Day Camps are high-energy 4-day camps designed to challenge players to develop core fundamental skills, develop a basic knowledge of the game and have fun competing in game situations! Position skills and overall team concepts will be emphasized. Various competitions such as 3-on-3, Hot Shot and other contests will also be implemented throughout the camp.
Campers are placed on teams based on their skill level and age. Over the course of the week, they will compete in two games daily against other teams of the same skill level. Each camper plays an equal amount of time in each game with substitutions occurring every five minutes. The games will last 40 minutes.
The camp concludes on Thursday afternoon with an awards ceremony that recognizes award winners in a variety of categories. Some of these winners are determined by skill competitions throughout the week and some of the awards are based upon the voting of the coaches. Each day there will be a “Camper of the Day” T-shirt to recognize their effort from the previous day. In addition, all campers will receive a camp T-shirt, basketball and other Hoops Factory give-a-ways. There is a closing ceremony open to family and friends at 2:00pm on Thursday of each camp week. Pizza and drinks will be provided for purchase each day!
